Kennel Club Good Citizen Puppy Foundation classes:

The aim of the Kennel Club Good Citizen Dog Scheme Puppy Foundation is providing a means of socializing our puppies and to lay down a foundation for education and training. The Good Citizen Dog Scheme is the largest dog training scheme in the UK. Its simple but effective dog training tips and techniques encompass all the skills necessary for a happy and rewarding partnership with your dog. Dawn teaches Good Citizen Scheme successfully up to Gold Level within her business.

Wharfedale Veterinary Centre offer puppy parties not just following the Kennel Club guidelines but also providing insight into your puppy’s behaviour – why they do what they do. It is a good foundation of knowledge of coming into the Practice and health advice such as Titre Testing, Dental Care, Raw Feeding and Faecal Testing.

The Kennel Club Foundation Puppy Party Classes run on a Tuesday evening 6.30pm – 7.30pm for 6 weeks. Your place can be booked at reception 01937 543860.

Areas covered include:

  • Responsibility and Care.
  • Socialisation – environnements, human’s/other dogs.
  • Noise Distraction.
  • Basic Puppy Positions – sits/downs.
  • Puppy Leadwalking.
  • Puppy Health and Diet
  • Toilet Training & crate training.
  • Puppy recall.
  • Play with the puppy.
  • Food Manners


One to One Puppy Training:

Bringing in a new member of your family is an exciting and challenging experience and getting this right from the start will have a long lasting effect on your companionship.  These sessions are designed not only to follow on from the KC Good Citizen Puppy Foundation Scheme but as a stand alone sessions also.

Training and advice can include:

  • The best dog to choose for your family
  • Collecting and bringing your puppy home
  • Introducing the puppy to the new family
  • Crate training
  • Safety around children
  • Socialisation
  • First visit to the vet
  • Toilet training
  • Focus on Puppy leadwalking – how to get about on your walk.
  • Recall – letting your puppy off lead safely.
  • General Manners – jumping up now they are bigger. Not giving items up easily, biting and generally help!
  • Pre teen behaviours – staring to ignore you, need inspiration on how to keep your puppy busy.
