New Microchipping Legislation
As of April 2016, the government introduced legislation to make microchipping of all dogs compulsory in England.
From that date owners will need to:
- Have their dog microchipped and registered on one of the authorised commercial databases available
- Register the details of any new owner before they sell or give the dog away
- Keep their contact details up-to-date on the microchip databases
We offer identity chipping as a simple procedure, placing a chip under the skin of your pet. It causes minimal pain and is a safe and effective way of identifying your pet should the worst happen.
Losing your pet can be a harrowing experience and one that we all try to avoid. Should this happen, however, identity chipping can literally be a life saver. A traditional identity collar is great but these can be damaged, lost or taken off. A microchip provides a permanent way of identifying your pet.
Microchipping also helps tackle puppy farming, encourages responsible ownership and in pedigree dogs it facilitates the reporting of hereditary health problems.
